The Continuing Formation of Clergy Office provides management of the Priests Sabbatical Program, oversees retreat opportunities for deacons and priests, and provides access to on-going formational programs in academic, spiritual, health-related (wellness) and pastoral leadership areas.

Join your brother priests for a few days of silence, prayer, reflection and relaxation at our annual priest retreat. This year’s retreat will be directed by Father Michael R. Simone, S.J. Father Simone is serving in the Archdiocese as pastor at The Church of the Gesù in Milwaukee.
Father Simone is a graduate of John Carroll University (B.A. 1995) and Weston Jesuit school of Theology (S.T.L. 2008), he earned a Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible from Johns Hopkins University. From 2013 to 2021, he was assistant professor at Boston College School of Theology and Ministry where he taught Scripture and preaching, served on the core faculty of spirituality studies, and was chair of the Education Policy Committee. After his tertianship year in Dublin, Fr. Simone returned to the USA and served as associate pastor of Old St. Patrick’s parish in Chicago. He moved to Milwaukee in July 2024.
Fr. Simone is contributing editor at America magazine where he has also served as a regular columnist. He has also written for the Portuguese Jesuits’ Mensageiro do Coração de Jesus and was a contributor to the 2023 and 2025 editions of LTP’s At Home With The Word. Among his other publications, Fr. Simone is the author of a commentary on the book of Judges for the Paulist Biblical Commentary, commentaries on the prophecies of Nahum and Zephaniah for the New Jerome Biblical Commentary, Revised Edition, and the monograph Your God is a Devouring Fire (CBQMS 57).
The retreat will follow a schedule and format similar to past retreats with retreatants arriving on Monday afternoon prior to the evening meal and departing on Thursday after the noon meal. The retreat center will handle all reservations and special dietary and room requests for active priests. Senior priests will make their reservations by contacting Nancy Kerns at (414) 769-3594. All reservations must be completed prior to September 26, 2025.
