Reverend Steven John Amann

Born on June 18, 1948, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Father began his priestly formation at De Sales Preparatory High School from 1966 – 1968, Saint Francis College from 1968 – 1970, and St. Francis Seminary School of Pastoral Ministry from 1970 – 1974. Father was ordained to the priesthood by the Most Reverend William E. Cousins on May 25, 1974, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Milwaukee.
Father Amann was first assigned Associate Pastor at St. James Parish in Menomonee Falls, on June 18, 1974. He was appointed Campus Minister at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee on June 17, 1980. On June 21, 1983, he was assigned as Associate Pastor at St. Joseph Parish in Fond du Lac. Father was assigned as Director of Home Formation and Spiritual Formation at Call to Ministry on July 1, 1985. On June 16, 1987, he was appointed Pastor at St. Mary Parish in Port Washington. Father was assigned as Pastor at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in New Berlin on October 3, 1995. On June 20, 2006, he was appointed Pastor at St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Burlington. He retired from active ministry on June 30, 2018.
A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial for Father Amann will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 12700 W. Howard Avenue, New Berlin on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Priest friends and former colleagues are invited to concelebrate; please bring an alb and white stole. Visitation will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, on September 22, from 9:00 a.m. – Noon. A private interment will take place at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Milwaukee.
Members of the Purgatorial Society will please offer the prescribed Mass for the repose of his soul and include Father Amann’s intention in the General Intercessions at the parish.
