Catholics and Lutherans join together in an initiative to plant 500 trees as a sign of our common commitment to service and care for creation.
As a part of the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, the Lutheran World Federation has challenged Lutheran Synods throughout the world to plant 500 trees for 500 years. Synods are encouraged to reach out to their ecumenical partners in this eco-reformation activity. The Archdiocese and the ELCA are sponsoring a tree in Wittenberg and will also plant trees at the Archdiocese and the Milwaukee Synod Office.
Kingo Lutheran Church and St. Martin de Porres planted trees at All People's Orchard in the spring and the Greater Milwaukee Synod and the Archdiocese donated trees to the Fondy Park next to the Fondy Food Market. The park was dedicated on September 16, 2017.
