Statewide Prayer Service to Commemorate the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation and 50 years of Lutheran Catholic Dialogue; From Conflict to Community: Lutheran-Catholic Commemoration of the Reformation

Archbishop Jerome Listecki, Bishop Paul Erickson and the Lutheran and Catholic bishops of Wisconsin invite all of the faithful to join in prayer and song at this special service of reconciliation, thanksgiving, and witness to the Gospel.
Archbishop Jerome Listecki, Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Milwaukee, and Bishop Mary Froiland. South-Central Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, will preside. Bishop David Ricken, Roman Catholic Diocese of Green Bay, and Bishop Paul Erickson, Greater Milwaukee Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, will preach.
Lutheran and Catholic choirs will lead us in song as we lift up our continuing commitment to the unity of the Church.

This service of prayer and scripture will celebrate the healing of five centuries of conflict between Lutherans and Roman Catholics that began with the start of the Protestant Reformation in 1517.
Several Menomonee Falls area Catholic and Lutheran communities will participate including Good Shepherd Catholic as well as Gloria Dei and Holy Cross Lutheran. All area Catholic and Lutheran communities are welcome to participate.

This worship will be a joyful celebration of our common witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our community, nation and the world.
Sunday, October 1, 2017, 4-8 PM, Wauwatosa Churches
The event commemorates the 500th anniversary of the Reformation through music showcasing a broad range of performers, both ensembles and individuals. The event begins at St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1615 N. Wauwatosa Avenue and progresses to Wauwatosa Avenue United Methodist Church, 1529 N. Wauwatosa Avenue; Trinity Episcopal Church, 1717 Church Street; and St. Bernard Parish, 7474 Harwood Avenue.
Come and go as you please. A free will offering will be taken up with proceeds divided between the Wauwatosa Food Pantry housed at St. Bernard Parish and the planning of future AGO events.
Performers are scheduled for 15-30 minute intervals and most will perform twice throughout the afternoon. For a list of performers, visit the AGO website.
