Archives Researcher Policy
The Archdiocesan Archives is open to researchers, but due to limited staff you must make an appointment. Our contact information appears to the left or on this page. There is no fee for on-site research. Our copy fees are below.
If it is not feasible for you to come to the archives please use the form below. Depending on the nature of your request, we may charge a fee for your research request. Staff time is very limited and we will agree to do research on a case by case basis. Our fees are as follows:
$10 per 30 minutes of research.
$.10 per page scanned or photocopied (it takes just as much work to scan a page as it does to photocopy the page).
$5 per photographic image scanned. Photographs present more copyright challenges, so consult an archivist for specific information regarding duplicating photographs.
Photograph Reproduction Policy
Copies are permitted for private study, scholarship, or research use only. Materials used for publication in any medium must be approved by the Archivist and a separate Permission to Publish Agreement must be signed.
Researchers may request Archives staff to produce copies using a photocopier machine or creating a digital image with a flatbed scanner. Nominal fees may be requested to offset resources used to produce these images. Fees may be paid by cash or check.
Fees for paper copies: $0.25/page
Fees for digital images (CD or Email): $5.00/image
The archives reserves the right to refuse the copying of materials in its collections based on privacy rights and collection restriction notices.
The researcher agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Archives and the Archdiocese of Milwaukee against all claims, demands, costs and expenses incurred by copyright infringement or any other legal or regulatory cause of action arising from the use of archive materials.
Please contact the archivists with any questions.
