Catechetics News & Updates

November 2024
Dear Coworkers in the Vineyard,

In case you have not heard the exciting news from Monday morning, Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Archbishop Jerome Listecki and appointed Bishop Jeffrey S. Grob (pronounced "graab"), Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago, as his successor. After being ordained a priest in 1992, he was appointed a Bishop in 2020 and served in various roles like Judicial Vicar and Chancellor in the Archdiocese of Chicago. In Archbishop-designated Jeffrey Grob's remarks, he said that he was grateful to serve in his home state, and is "not afraid to stand alongside anyone, and roll up his sleeves and work". He grew up as an only child on a dairy farm in Cross Plaines, WI in the Madison Diocese and is a lifelong Badger football and hockey fan. His episcopal motto is "Jesus is the vine."

The highlight for me was attending the Mass of Thanksgiving and then meeting our new shepherd. As I waited in a slow-moving line with about a hundred archdiocesan staff, when it was my turn to greet him, I shook Archbishop-designated's hand as he warmly greeted me and said that he looks forward to working with me as "there is a lot of work to be done [in catechesis and evangelization]."

The installation mass will be January 14, 2025, and until that time, Archbishop Listecki serves as Apostolic Administrator of the archdiocese.

More information about Archbishop-designate Grob is posted on the archdiocese website at www.archmil.org.

Please keep Archbishop-designate Grob in your prayers.

Peace of the Lord,
Anh (with Meg and Doug)

Morning of Recollection
December 3rd from 10:00AM - 12:00PM | Lumen Christi
Lumen Christi Parish, 2750 W. Mequon Rd., Mequon, WI 53092
If we want to lead our young people closer to Jesus, we must first have deep intimacy with Him! With the myriad tasks and duties involved in our work, it is so difficult to make time for that heart-to-heart with Jesus. Join us for a short retreat and time of prayer this Lent. Be inspired by Fr. Andrew Infanger (Chaplain and Director of Campus Ministry - UW Milwaukee), be healed through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and spend some quiet time with our Lord. All this will help us head back to our families and mission fields ready to pour ourselves out for the sake of the Gospel!
