It's a good practice to periodically check your "Junk E-mail" folder regardless of which e-mail client you use.
It's a good practice to periodically check your "Junk E-mail" folder if you use Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Gmail, Yahoo! or any other e-mail client. The "Junk E-mail" filter built into these e-mail clients is the final layer of defense against spam messages, which can sometimes include dangerous malware.
Typically, 99 percent of these messages are unwanted but sometimes the filter catches a message that you actually want. If this happens, most e-mail clients provide a way for you to mark the message and/or it's sender as safe.
You might even want to take the extra step of adding a reoccurring item to your calendar reminding you to check your "Junk E-Mail" folder. Once per week should do the trick but you may want to increase the frequency based on the amount of mail that you get.
