From the Archdiocese of Milwaukee:
It is with heavy hearts, but with hope in the Resurrection, we announce that the Most Reverend Richard J. Sklba, Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus of Milwaukee, died peacefully in his sleep overnight. May he rest in peace.
Bishop Sklba was ordained to the priesthood in Rome for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee in 1959. When he was ordained as an auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee in December of 1979 at the age of 44, Bishop Sklba became one of America’s youngest bishops. He continued to serve the Archdiocese of Milwaukee since his retirement in 2010.
“He always had a love for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and generously spent his life in service,” said Archbishop Jerome E. Listecki. “Bishop Sklba was a gentleman, a scholar and always a true Christian.”
A full biography can be found at https://www.archmil.org/bishops/Sklba.htm Funeral arrangements will be released at a later time.
