Patches & Other Religious Activities

Several Catholic patches are available to Girl Scouts, American Heritage Girls, and other young people.  These are distinct from the more involved official religious recognition medals.

Catholic Faith Patches

These patches from the National Catholic Committee for Girl Scouts and Camp Fire:

• are for girls grades 1-12
• foster Catholic identity
• encourage youth to learn more about their faith and to grow in holiness

Patches include models of faith such as St. Elizabeth, St. Kateri Tekakwitha, St. Gianna Molla, and Blessed Mother Theresa.  They may be placed on the back of a scout’s sash or vest.  Patches are purchased directly from NFCYM’s Online Store.  Learn more at:  www.nfcym.org/patches.

Care for Our Common Home Patch

The Laudato Si' Project offers a patch for children or teens who complete certain educational and stewardship requirements.  This patch is named for Pope Fancis' letter titled, Laudato Sí: Care for Our Common Home , in which he teaches about caring for creation.

Our Lady of Good Help Patch

The Diocese of Green Bay has an activity patch honoring Our Lady of Good Help, the title of Mary when she appeared in Wisconsin.  In 1859, Our Lady appeared to Adele Brise in Champion, Wisconsin.  The activities focus on this approved apparition in Wisconsin and why the Church honors Mary.  For information about the patch, visit the Diocese of Green Bay Scout webpage.

Other Religious Activities

Girls may also participate in activities of the National Catholic Committee on Scouting.  These include the

• Rosary Series
• The Footsteps of American Saints
• International Catholic Awareness Recognition. 

Although developed by a national committee for boy scouts, all youth and adults are welcome to participate.  This includes Girl Scouts and American Heritage Girls.  Learn more about these patch and medallion programs.
