The Archdiocese of Milwaukee's local office of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development will accept applications from non-profit organizations for 2010 grants between December 2009 and February 3, 2010. The Archdiocese covers the following counties: Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Walworth, Waukesha, Ozaukee, Washington, Dodge, Fond du Lac and Sheboygan.
The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) is a social justice project of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. CCHD's mission is to address the root causes of poverty in America through promotion and support of community controlled, self-help organizations, and through transformative education.
For 40 years, through its grants and education programs, CCHD has sought to promote a more just society, one in which all people, but especially the poor, are empowered to participate in the social and civic lives of their communities. CCHD funding supports the efforts of organized groups of poor and low-income people to attack the basic causes of poverty through institutional change and leadership development models.
